Barrel

The barrel is the cylindrical shaft inside a roller door's headbox that the curtain winds around as the door is raised and lowered.

On electric roller doors the barrel often houses a tubular motor directly, so the drive mechanism and the winding shaft are the same component, which is part of why roller doors have a compact headbox.
