Side room

Side room is the clear space to the left and right of a garage door opening, needed for the door's side tracks, retractable-gear springs or fixing frame to be fitted.

Retractable-gear up-and-over doors and sectional doors need adequate side room for their vertical tracks; a garage with very little wall either side of the opening may only suit canopy gear or a bespoke narrow-frame design.
