How much does a double garage door cost?
A double garage door installed in the UK typically costs 40–80% more than the equivalent single-door price, so a double sectional runs roughly £2,650–£4,500 inc. VAT while a double up-and-over runs roughly £1,400–£2,700. Double doors always need retractable gear, never canopy, because the wider span demands springs on both sides.
Why doubles cost proportionally more
A double-width opening needs a heavier frame, stronger springs and, on up-and-over doors, retractable gear rather than canopy gear, because canopy gear cannot safely handle spans much beyond a single door. The operator on an electric double also needs to be rated for the extra panel weight, which is why the uplift is proportionally larger than the width increase alone would suggest.
